Vaction Gone Bad

Imagine being on a cruise and getting away from all the struggles of life and just relaxing.Suddenly, the captain's voice comes over the speakers, "Folks, the engine just caught fire and we are going to be stuck for a while. Sorry for the inconvenience." CNN staff reports this story in the recent article Carnival cruise ship to be towed after fire strands it in Gulf of Mexico and explain the situation that the cruise ship was in.
The passengers were obviously in a pickle, and did not expect their vacation to become a "trip gone bad." The news reporters state in the article, "The Carnival Triumph was about 150 miles off the coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, heading back to Galveston, Texas, when the fire broke out in an engine room Sunday morning, according to Carnival Cruise Lines. The ship's automatic fire extinguishing system kicked in and soon contained the blaze, and no injuries were reported, Carnival said Monday." Thankfully, nobody was hurt down in the engine room and the crew got to the fire and controlled the accident before anyone was seriously injured. The ship was still in deep water and only going about two miles an hour, so the ship was out of trouble.
Brent Nutt spoke with his wife who was on the ship and says, "She said they had no power, no running water, and she said she hadn't been able to eat anything yet." That problem was soon solved and "guests have been supplied with food and refreshments throughout yesterday and this morning and the ship has supplies on board to last until the vessel returns to port," states Carnival. The electricity was soon turned back on with emergency generators, and people were actually able to use the toilets again! Man, that would be awful to be without a toilet.
All of this trouble kind of has benefits. The cruise line said, "After being towed to Progreso, those aboard the Carnival Triumph will be flown back to the United States at no cost to them, the cruise line said. They will also get a full refund, credit that can be used toward a future trip and reimbursement for all expenses, except casino and gift shop purchases." Even though, the trip was not all that great, maybe the discounted one will go a lot smoother! If the passengers would have had to pay, I am sure there would have been many unhappy people.
I do not know why, but this incident kind of reminds me of the Titanic. None of the Carnival passengers died, but them being stranded out in the ocean makes me remember the tragedy of the Titanic. I have never been on a cruise, but I do not intend to get on one after all these stories!
In conclusion,  many passengers on this cruise had their vacation ruined, but everything worked out in the end.

Arkansas New Abortion Law

In an article posted February 22, 2013 entitled "Arkansas House approves bill banning abortions at 20 weeks" Author Suzie Parker informs readers about the recent vote to ban abortions after a woman is 20 weeks pregnant. This bill only allows exception in the case of rape, incest, or to save the mother's life.

Parker explains that this new bill has shortened the already exisiting limit of 25 weeks for abortions. She states, "Seven U.S. states have laws that restrict or ban abortion after the 20-week mark and similar laws approved in Arizona and Georgia are facing legal challenges." This new bill is based on the fact that medical researchers suggest that a fetus starts feeling pain at 20 weeks of gestation.

Abortion right activists are outraged by this bill. Murry Newbern, a lobbyist for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, defended abortion by saying, "Any bill that restricts access to safe abortion is bad for women in Arkansas." She also said, "Every woman's health care needs are different, and it's vital that a woman be able to make her own personal, private decisions about her health and medical care with the consultation of her doctor, her faith and her family." Although a woman should make decisions about her own personal health, this case is different because now it involves the life of the baby also.

Parker reports, "...if it becomes law, would be the stiffest abortion restriction in the country." However, there are still some exceptions to the new law. Lawmakers voted that there will be exceptions in certain cases of rape, incest, or if carrying the baby threatens the mother's own personal safety. These special cases should always be considered carefully because with this being the only exception to the law, many women will start crying "rape!" everytime they want an abortion.

I fully support this law because innocent unborn baies should not have to die simply for the fact that the mother was not responsible enough to be on birth control before having sex. It is not the government's job to fix a woman's personal mistakes, otherwise there would be a clinic that erases the memory of someone after someone says something they regret. However, when rape is involved then it is obviously not the woman's fault and it was not her choice to risk getting pregnant, do this law is fair to everyone, which is what a law should be!

Gay Marrige? Apporve or Veto

Talk show host Sara Gilbert engaged to singer Linda Perry
http://tv.yahoo.com/news/talk-show-host-sara-gilbert-engaged-singer-linda-000019229.html

Congress is in session this time of year and one thing on their to do list is to approve or veto the bill censuring Gay Marriage. A man and women being married they are required by law to get benefits. Such as Tax Benefits, Estate Planning Benefits,Government Benefits, Employment Benefits, Medical Benefits, and ect. Sara Gibert announced her engagement to Linda Perry this past week. Being a face in television Sara will receive a lot of negative feed back. Most people don't think gay marriage should be aloud because some people may abuse the system to get the benefits that married couples do. This theory might be true, but there are some people out there that wish to be married to someone of the same sex. Because there are men and women that do the same things just for the benefits.
I do agree that everyone should have the right to marry someone of their liking, but he government can set some requirements for gay couples to meet before coming legally married. Such as doing a back ground check. If they have been married before look into the reason for being divorced. Seeing how long the couple have been together, and maybe watching the way they live their everyday lives. Being gay isn't a problem its the people that say they are gay to get the benefits. When people truly love each other they would not care to go through the test and paper work they maybe had to fill out to be a married couple. If they want it bad enough they should be aloud to marry and live their lives like man and women who are married. Gay marriage should be legal in the United States, but with some requirement's.

What If?

So many people die in car crashes everyday. Can these fatality's be prevented? Laws are not just mad to give law makers something to do. Speed limits and safety processions are for our own well being. Six teenager were killed in a car crash after the car ran off the road and flipped into a ditch. Police are not saying but are think it could have been caused because of speeding. If drivers would follow the speed limit then most crashes could have been avoided. Seat belts are also something made you keep your safe. CNN is saying that some seat belts were used, but with the SUV being over populated with passengers there was not enough for all passengers. In Batesville there was a law set in place that effects my generation of teens. This law saw that if you were born the year of and after 1995 that you can only have one other person in the car that is not a sibling. If this law was more enforced it would save teenagers lives. Having only one other person in the car would cause less detraction to the driver.
I my self have been in three wrecks my self. I've been fortunate that everyone always ended up being okay. Even after a long hospital stay at the age of 9 after a crash I had with my dad and brother. My dad had fallen asleep at the wheel, and crashed into a rock wall flipping the truck three times. Being so young it was hard on my body to cop with those injures. Myself having 2 concussion  and brushed up all over, and just really sore. My brother got the worst of it. After having broke his fumier in three places and having surgery to have a rod and three pins in a long heeling process came with it. Since that accident I have told my self to always abide by the law to keep myself, and others safe. I have been driving for almost three years now. Since I do always try followed the laws and speed limits I have avoided a accident and tricks. Some people are not so lucky when it comes to living through a crash, but everyone can take precautions to help keep safe while traveling no matter the distance.

Are We Prepared for the Worst?

"On Jan 31, dozens of police offers from various agencies" gathered at the former Cushman School campus. Each offers was trained of what to do if there is an "active shooter" enters the build. After the Sandy Hook shooting it made school districts more aware of things that could happen in our own school. This has come close to happing when a Senior Hit list was produced a few years back. Even though the swat team fully secured the build, these things can still happen with out any knowledge. It's important that we are prepared for a school shooting.
This training should not just start happing now. Things like this could happen at anytime and anyplace. Being prepared should not alone be for the police offers, school need to also be preparing their students in case of this matter. Teacher and Parents also need to be a big part of preparing child. If we are not ready for this situation we could end up being another Sandy Hook. All security in
schools need to be improved. Batesville has now enforced that all doors will be locked at 8 a clock. Everyone must go through the office to enter into the build. All schools should do so. This will keep stranger's out of our build and make our schools safer.

Outrage over Miss. hit-and-run killing. Hate crime or just a murder?

Racism is still a growing problem in our country. When a black man is run over by 3 white boys the first thing that comes to mind is a hate crime. The District Attorney, and Sheriff disagree. Only being  five miles from Jackson Miss. where a teenager was convicted of murder for running over a black man in a parking lot. John Butts a 61 year old black man was killed in a hit in run at 7 al clock on July, 2012. The driver of the vicinal was Matthew Darby went out of his way to hit this man. In testimony of one of the passerines states " the complete left side of the road while we are on the complete right side of the road. And I pointed out to say watch out there is a walker there"  He clearly meant to run over this man and nothing was stopping him. As I was watching this news story I got a strong feeling that this was a hate crime. He had no reason to run over the man so why did he? There is evidence of the boys knowing it was a black man they saw. A passenger in the back seat says this to investigators " Yes. I could tell he was black."  This teenager should not only be locked up for murder but also for a hate crime!
African Americans have been judged by there skin color since the day pilgrims arrived on the Mayflower in 1620. Used a slaves and farm worker, African Americans have scrutinized by they color of their skin. All people are equal in gods eyes, so why should they be treated any different. They go to school and work just like the rest of us, so why so much hate? If our government is not convicting people of what they deserve then how do we stop the problem of racism? Unless we speak up and speak out these crimes will just keep getting worse.

Looters target Coney Island after Sandy sweeps through

In this photo on Nydaileynews.com is of seven cops arising a black male for the crime that I am assuming is looting after Sandy. People lost their homes their work places because of this storm  Many of them had no where to go or nothing to eat and needed to survive  I understand that the women who stole dippers probably needed them for her baby, but the men who were taking TV's had no real reason for that. All the power was out and its not like people to could watch the TV or would even have the money to buy on off of them. For the people who owned those stores its going to really hurt them in the long run cause that money they can not get back. Some people did it for the right reason but others did it just because they could ,and that's not right at all. There are somethings in life that are just not worth going to jail over and a TV is one of those things.
